Laser intervention, improvement for clear nails

Onychomycosis or nails with fungi can be embarrassing and sometimes painful in some individuals. This condition can, even after the use of oral or topical treatments, leave the nail looking unaesthetic.

The science behind the laser : The PinPointe Laser is a cutting-edge technology that operates by using an amplified light. The discolored nail will become clearer and pinker.

The PinPointe Laser Laser is more efficient than the older models like Genesis plus and Fox III. This is due to its wavelength targeting the fungus and microwaves pulses heating up the fungus without creating any pain. This non-invasive intervention requires no local anesthesia. Compared to oral medication, the laser doesn’t lead to any uncomfortable side effects or medical interaction. It is a safe option to improve the aesthetic aspect of the nail.

Is it painful?

The experience is comfortable. The patient does not feel much at the beginning. Sometimes during the end of the intervention, it is possible to feel a pinch, but nothing to worry about. Remember that no recovery time is required.

About :

The PinPointe Laser has been available in the U.S. since 2006. It is only since 2013 that the laser company decided to offer its product in Canada. This laser is safe and approved by Health Canada for the temporary increased of clear nail in patient with onychomycosis.

Onychomycosis is treated with a topical treatment, such as a medicated nail polish or cream, preceded by thinning of the nail for better penetration of the topical product. Oral medication can also be a treatment option. Your podiatrist will advise you about the best treatment option depending of the severity and duration of the nail fungus or number of affected toes
